ELM Efficiency machines for extra-low voltage
The experiments use the components of the electrical machine teaching model system and operate with protective extra-low voltage. All machines are mounted on a base unit that is arranged vertically in the experiment frame.
Objectives
- Recognising basic physical principles
- Recording machine characteristics
- Introduction to drive technology
- Use of simple tools (spanners, oil cans etc.)
Due to the lossless rotor excitation and the lower use of raw materials (Al, Fe, Cu), the energy efficiency increases compared to a classic synchronous motor. When used as a direct drive, an additional efficiency gain compared to geared motors can be identified for small motor outputs: permanent magnet motors are wear-free and require neither lubricants nor gears. Even as generators in micro power plants, efficiency machines achieve higher efficiencies than previous solutions allow. In conjunction with the three-phase power supply, block and sinusoidal modulation types can be investigated. The function of the rotor position sensor equipped with Hall elements is also the subject of the experiments. By simply connecting the windings using bridge plugs, star and delta connection can be quickly and clearly converted into each other. Two high-efficiency rotors are available: one rotor with glued-on outer magnets and one rotor with recessed inner magnets. The magnets are colour-coded for pole differentiation. The 10-pin stator windings are also coloured to clarify the assignment to the three phases.
All functions of the Power Analyser CASSY can be operated quickly and directly via the display, the rotary wheel and the buttons on the unit. All settings and measurement results can be saved on the unit and quickly called up again later or simply downloaded.
In addition, the Power Analyser CASSY is fully controllable in real time via RJ45 Ethernet, W-LAN and USB-C interfaces.
These interfaces can be used by the following software:
- CASSY Lab 2 for drives and energy systems,
- MATLAB® and LabVIEW ™
- Lab Docs Editor Advanced
The following integrated servers are available in the Power Analyser CASSY for the local media connection of at least four end devices simultaneously.
For more details, see product data of Power Analyser CASSY (catalogue no. 727100 or 727101).
The equipment includes safe laboratory experiments with safe extra-low voltage. The experiments are carried out with a manual in printed or electronic form.
The target group is trainees at vocational schools as well as students in the first semesters of engineering. The experiments are designed as an introduction at a lower to intermediate learning level.
