Static / Controlled converter valves
The experiments are set up with training panels in the experiment frame. The uncontrolled / controlled rectifiers with mask support represent the block diagram and signal flow diagram, and allow a clear layout of the experimental circuits. The central, µ-processor-monitored connection of the ignition leads allows the converter circuit to be changed quickly.
Objectives
- Measurement of characteristic variables such as average and root-mean-square values, form factor and ripple
- Phase angle control or pulse group control
- Protective equipment, commutation, control characteristics
Power electronics has developed from power converter technology into an important, comprehensive sub-field of electrical engineering. The tasks of power electronics are switching, controlling and converting electrical energy with power semiconductors at the most favourable efficiency possible. One of the main applications of power electronics is drive technology. With the help of modern power electronics, variable-speed drives for 4-quadrants can be realised in DC and three-phase technology. Today, thyristor speed controllers, soft start circuits, frequency converters, servo drives, etc. are indispensable in industry, trade and households
Highlights:
- Uncontrolled / controlled rectifier circuits are listed as a training plate system.
- With the main unit 735012 mains-operated power converters, the various uncontrolled / and controlled rectifier circuits are selected via masks.
- Minimised wiring effort, as the circuits only need to be completed with the measuring connections and some jumper plugs.
- Control unit enables setting of the firing angles via an incremental encoder or an analogue input.
All functions of the Power Analyser CASSY can be operated quickly and directly via the display, the rotary wheel and the buttons on the unit. All settings and measurement results can be saved on the unit and quickly called up again later or simply downloaded.
In addition, the Power Analyser CASSY is fully controllable in real time via RJ45 Ethernet, W-LAN and USB-C interfaces.
These interfaces can be used by the following software:
- CASSY Lab 2 for drives and energy systems,
- MATLAB® and LabVIEW ™
- Lab Docs Editor Advanced
The following integrated servers are available in the Power Analyser CASSY for the local media connection of at least four end devices simultaneously.
For more details, see product data 727110 or 727111 Power Analyser CASSY.
The individual equipment is equally suitable for student experiments in the laboratory with low voltage 90 / 156 V DC) and - with a mobile trainer - for teacher demonstration in the classroom. The experiments are carried out according to the manual.
The target group is made up of commercial apprentices and students of electrical machine construction. The course offers experiments at an intermediate level and also allows for the necessary insight into machine behaviour for scientific interpretation at undergraduate level. The media connection makes the experiments suitable for demonstration in the classroom or a lecture hall.
In the following configurations there are further extended experiments with uncontrolled and controlled rectifiers:
- E2.4.2.2 Fault simulator, phase control
- E2.5.2.1 Four-quadrant operation of a DC machine with controlled rectifiers
- E2.5.3.1 Static converter drives with asynchronous machines
